Testing... testing... testing....

If my suspicions are correct, then Sally probably sees a blue questiony mark in the first picture, and a cuppy cake.

I don't know Carmine... that is a pretty good looking cup cake. Homemade too!

So what's the mystery about Sally's photo viewing knitty?

Well, what I think is happening is that her Safari isn't recognizing relative root path syntax, which means when we use a tilde or ~ in the path to where the picture is on the server.

But our ISP says we gotta use that squiggly thing when we post images from those accounts. Coco's avatar and my cuppy cake are on a different server, which doesn't need to use the squiggle, and that's why Sally can see them.

I'm not sure how to solve it though. Maybe a software update? Or view the board with another browser. We used to have a big problem with windows swooshing closed before we could post anything, but that went away when the browser version was updated.

Oh Knitty! You are so smart! I do see the blue questiony mark and then a cuppy cake! We do use a banana computer but we went to a different computer and we saw the first picksure AND I saw Ginger making the funny faces at me! HeeHee Not really. I remember when you all would get swooshed away at the beginning. That was sad.

Thanks for your support, Knitty. Very smart analysis of the problem. I've been trying to fix Benny's Banana for the last few days and didn't notice that this was going on.

The latest update of Safari has been giving me some troubles, too, Sally. I have actually switched over to Mozilla as a browser on the community computer, and it seems to be working much better. For instance, I see both the cuppycake and the C/K combo on this browser. But then again, I see it on Safari, too. You might want to try deleting your current version of Safari and downloading a new one, or just give Mozilla a try. I find it quite great.

We are totally committed to Mozilla here in the Bull City. In fact, we often run through the house yelling "MO-zilla, MO-zilla!"

Hello sock! Good to see you! (8(|)-

Actually, don't let it get around (and I know it won't, since the RHMS monkeys NEVER read the Tech thread) but I try to keep the other monkeys here SCARED of Mozilla so I don't have to wade through their ridiculous bookmarks and clean up their cookies. I tell them - BE CAREFUL OR MOZILLA WILL GET YOU! They think that he's a monster and if they click on his icon he will eat them up.

Please don't tell them otherwise.

i went back through tech support and noticed a lot of peops were having problems posting their avatar as am I.
they were easy to find as theirs had a red x in place of a pic as does mine!
is there a way you would recommend making an avatar that would stay alive?
the bling wont stay!
this is very important as I have a colorful weave to show off to the charming monkeys i have met.
please help me play.

I think I know what the problem is.

Crackamammie is using an online service to reduce her photo size, and then using the service's url in her profile. But the shrinking service sez, "This image was written to a temporary file and will automatically be deleted within the next 2 hours." So that's why Merle could see it last night, but none of us can see it today.

What she needs to do is download the shrunken picture, put it somewhere that will host it, and put THAT url in her profile. She can get a free account at www.4freeimagehost.com, photobucket, or a bunch of other places.

How do I go about posting pictures on the message board? Also, I'm wondering how to register a couple of monkeys who are jumping up & down to get onto the message board?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Don't see the pictures. I'm not an expert, but I have seen it written here that the avatar pictures have to be square. The pictures that you may be trying to have appear in your message have to be linked from one of the picture-storing sites, such as photobucket or snapfish.

Hope this helps.
