Thank you Annie-
I have such a great memory of that beautiful sunny day we walked around my neighborhood when you were here. That was the last time I walked the full avenue, because this happened shortly after.
Carmine Peepers keeps pointing to the mend in his ankle and telling me it's really no big deal. Hopefully whoever stitches me matches the thread color better and doesn't leave those stitches in forever, like Carmine's.
We hope all is well with you. Take care, and hugs from all of us in Smonkeytown.

Posted 12-18-07 05:13 PM Does anyone know anything about these socks? I got them with a bunch of socks I won on ebay. maybe they are just irregulars. I think they are kinda neat.

Posted 12-18-07 11:14 PM Would you guys suggest I make a monkey with them, or save them for historical purpose? Maybe I'm over thinking this. (my world is so small, I need to get out of Nebraska once in a while, *sigh*)

Posted 12-19-07 12:10 AM I'd hold off a bit to find out more. You can always make a monkey later if you want.
I'm guessing it's probably seconds, and the knitting machine ran out of brown midway through that pair. But I don't know if the machines work in even pairs, or knit single socks at a time that are matched up later.
You could send a pic to Dr. Dan at the Rockford museum.

Posted 12-19-07 01:30 PM Hi, I am newly posting although I have read tons of the archives! I am finally beginning to make my own monkeys. I am working on my 1st currently. It is not of red heel socks on account of there not being any in my town. I'm in Eugene, Oregon. I called the next town and they said they had some in stock but when I got there they didn't have any. I guess the counter girl was just remembering that they used to carry them. I have tried winning socks on ebay but have yet to succeed in winning those auctions.)
I am so excited to be a part of this amazing field! I wish all of you talented monkey makers well. I love sock monkeys!

Posted 12-19-07 02:47 PM I must say the talent on this board is absolutely INSANE! I can only hope to one day make it to half that level! I just finished my first Monk last night....his name is YANKEE and will be wrapped (with air holes of course) and under the tree for my brother in law.

I am very intrigued by coco's coloring...what kind of sock is that?
Those of you that use the non traditional colorful socks...is that a lot harder to use? Are they smaller monkeys or are you able to find those patterns in large socks?
Anyone have a dinosaur or horse pattern they are willing to share? I ordered a pattern book and can't wait for it to arrive!

Posted 12-31-07 02:20 AM Hello!
It looks like that monkey lives in a high rise! (sniff) I used to live in the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood but now I am visiting the S'Monkeys in Northern California.
Coco is very very nice and she has wonderful sisters and friends.
We are very happy to meet you

We miss you very much!
We have tried many times to call you but we reckoned the snowstorms broke your phone and we were very annoyed that that happened if that was what happened.
We have a gmail address of burythatseed@gmail if you want to say hi. We miss you

Posted 01-11-08 10:33 PM I have a delicate question...what is the proper placement for the monkey tail? I usually place it in the white space just above the red part of the...uh...the...behind. I've seen some above the white part, some in the middle of the red part...so, where is the "official" monkey tail placement...huh???

Posted 01-12-08 06:32 PM Kathy wanted me to let her sweet friends at the message boards know that her husband, Paul, passed away Tuesday afternoon. It was sudden, but he did not suffer. We monkeys are all sad, we loved Paul, esepally Casey, the enginer Monkey. We are taking good care of Casey.
Kathy is doing as well as she can. she cries sometimes but sometimes she laughes at a memory. She has no family, but has lotsa friends to comfort her. She still plans on attending the Monkey fest in March.
Hug your loved ones tight!
We love you all,
Kathy

We're really sorry to hear about that. Losing a favorite human can really make a monk's stuffing ache. But everyone one in Smonkeytown sends you and the gang gentle socky hugs and hopes that laughing at the good memories will soon outweigh the hurty parts.

We of the Mountain family are very sad to hear of Pauls big train ride to the sky. We know you loved him very much, and we don't want you to forget that all of us here and everywhere love you soooooooooo much!
Annie says she is making plans to go to the monkeyfest in March. She says her heart is all fluttery at the thought of seeing everyone and their monkeys. I just hope I don't barf in the plane

Posted 01-12-08 07:23 PM My tail, and the tails of most of the Mountain Family are delicately placed just above the red part of our behinds. It works for us really well.
