Hi Yackyjan,
My tail is up higher than most munkys that I have met. It is all the way above the white part. Sumtimes peeples make fun of me and wun peeple even said maybe I should have a tail surgery to make it lower. I don't think so mister!!! I like my tail the way it is thank you. Beanie says there isn't any official tail placement area. Sum of the munkys around here have their tail growing out of the white part above the red but most of them are growing out about half and half in the red part and the white part. Beanie says that all tails are good and wherever they happen to grow out is always perfect.
Your friend,
Munky

Thanks for all the monkey tail placement info. I didn't want to give my monkeys a bad start in life by placing their tails in the wrong spot...you know how kids can tease once they start school...especially in gym class! It's good to know that there is no wrong placement. Thanks!

On a different note...

I have to tell you the cutest story about a monkey conversation with my grandsons. We took the two boys and all the monkeys to the park Sunday to take pictures. On the way home, the boys were talking in the back seat. The first line of the conversation I caught was…

David: Monkeys don’t have hair.
Ethan: Yes, they do.
David: No, no they don’t.
Ethan: What about Dexter?
David" Grandma, who’s Dexter?
Grandma: He’s a monkey I made with brown hair, who loves photograpy and adventure.
David: Where is he?
Grandma: I sent him to Florida to live.
David: Why?
Grandma: I sold him to a nice lady who lives there.

Silence…

David: I bet he misses you.
Grandma: You think so? I miss him, too. I miss all the monkeys I sell.
David: Well, why don’t you just keep them all?
Ethan: David, Grandmas sells them to make money.
David: Grandma, from now on you can keep all your monkeys. We’ll help you make money.
Grandma: How are you going to do that, David?
David: We’ll sell all our stuff that we don’t want and give you the money.
Grandma: Thank you, David, that’s very sweet of you, but Grandma enjoys making monkeys and selling them and knowing that other people will enjoy them.
David: Well, then, I’m going to pray that when you get to heaven, all your monkeys will be with you.
Grandma: That’s sweet, David, but stuffed monkeys don’t go to heaven. Only people go to heaven.

Silence.

David: Well, I don’t care what you say, I’m going to pray that anyway cause I want all my toys in heaven and you should have all your monkeys, too!

End of conversation

Isn’t that adorable!

One of the girl sock monkeys put me up to this so don't go thinking that I want to know this information for ME or nothin' you got that loud and clear k?

Anyway our People has gotten ahold of two replica vintage scarves that's like two feet long by two feet and it's square and she SAYS she remembers seeing someone somewhere who made sock monkey DRESSES from vintage scarves like this and anyway banana breath overheard and she wants to know if ANYONE HAS A PATTERN FOR MAKING SOCK MONKEY DRESSES FROM VINTAGE SCARVES THERE I ASKED NOW LEAVE ME ALONE BANANA BREATH SO I CAN GO BACK TO PAINTING THANK YOU LOVE ME and no love at ALL for illiterate young upstart monkeys who can't TYPE THEIR OWN MESSAGES ABOUT DRESSES and have to badger an old solid respectable citizen such as MYSELF to do it for them HAARRRRRUMPH.

Banana Breath is made from the old PROPER kind of socks with the BELL CURVE MOUTH, by the way.

I know the Girl has made monkey clothes out of scarves, but I don't think she ever used a pettern..in fact I bet she doesn't even know how to use a pattern.

Right now she is making pants for a really super long monkey....out of regular fabric.

I can already tell by looking that the pants aren't gonna fit..

Just in case anyone else is interested. Someone on ebay is auctioning off pairs of blue rockford redheels. There are a total of 4 pairs being sold individually.

I would love to have a blue sock monkey. Maybe someday -

Dear Foofie, my people went ahead and made a dress no pattern because she was so inspired by your post. I think she wanted it to look really homemade and figured the best way to do that was with no pattern anyway right? harrumph. So anyway she DID and yep it looks homemade, but not "this is my first attempt at sewing something" bad. Molly monkey's pretty proud of herself. I drew her wearing her dress and I'll post the picture to my art gallery thread after I post here.

Chelle - I saw that auction. Holy seamgaper, that's a lot of money for a pair of skins. My people got a new monkey made from those old socks two years ago and she says she paid around $17 for the completed monkey, and he was elaborately costumed, too. She says he used to post around here, too. Hank, the cowboy? I don't know myself, I've never met him. I hope that's fixed within a couplea munce.

Well, here she is, my first blue sock monkey made from Rockford Blue Red Heel Socks. I'm not sure if I am going to keep her or sell her. I had to give a fortune for the socks, (yes, it was I who got all crazy at the last minute of the ebay auction last week). I had never bid on a multiple item auctions, so I wasn't sure what I was doing.

My other monkeys sell for $50-$65, so I'm not even sure how to price this one since the socks are so rare.

Any other monkey makers willing to offer their advice???

Thanks a bunch,
Jan
