Posted 01-31-07 05:52 PM Dear Everybody,
I love you all so much.
This dog attack thing has really crumplicated our lives. The landlord understands....(but really he doesn't) and I wrote my sweet grandaughter a letter using my left hand, which is not the one I am accustomed to, and the firefighter love-of-my-life mailed it for me, and my grandaughters mom, who is NOT a nice person, sent it back with a mean "go away and stay away" note written on the envelope, which made me very sad, and, as wonderful as Netflix is, I am growing tired of lying on the couch, hurting, and watching movies.
Will someone suggest a really funny movie for me to watch? I have been having to get rabies shots cuz the dogs all disappeared, so they couldn't be tested. I will carry pepper spray on dog walks forever.
Tamara, could you send me your postal address to my email? I have some baubles for you. My email is cresent_moonwrench@yahoo.com
I love you all so much, really really much!

Posted 01-31-07 08:24 PM Oh jeepers Annie, you're really do for some good karma soon.
We all liked the quirky humor in Little Miss Sunshine. If you like a darker humor with some drama, Nic Cage's Lords of War, although it's got a sobering political edge as well.
For cheery humor, Cinnamon, Ginger and I go with the chick flicks; The Wedding Date and 13 Going on 30 were recent favorites in that genre, and you can never go wrong with a classic Julie Roberts comedy like Notting Hill, Runaway Bride or America's Sweethearts. We also gave two paws up to heartwarming comedy Love Actually, cause that Hugh Grant makes us giggle.
The girl said to tell you that when she was recouping from her knock on the noggin' last year, anything with Matthew McConaughey, even if it's not funny, or not even a very good movie, still cheered her up.

Posted 02-01-07 07:10 AM Dear, beautiful Annie--!
I'm sorry that things have been so difficult for you. Being so ill-used by wild dogs and wild people is hardly what you deserve, and certainly very saddening. I hope that you heal quickly and well, my sister monkey lady.
I'm glad that you have a firefighter to love. I'm very glad for that, indeed. It's much easier to do things on the buddy system. And easier still to do it with a whole mess of people (family, friends...).
I'll bet we can help distract ya some.
Let's see... funny movies...
"Bowfinger" is pretty good. As is "Best in Show," or anything by that crew (I think another is "A Mighty Wind"). And while it's not quite a comedy, "Harvey" is a mighty fine movie... we were just re-watching that the other day. Makes ya feel good.

Posted 02-01-07 10:36 AM most of my favorite movies involve science fiction and/or big explosions or women kicking butt. If you'd like something in the former vein, I'm particulary fond of the Fifth Element and Stargate; another alternative is the entire season of Firefly followed by the movie Serenity--that has all three. I've often thought if I ever had significant downtime, I would work my way through all the seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena the Warrior Princess, Stargate SG-1.
If you want something a less action-oriented, more romantic (also funny), how about Love Actually (even tho it isn't Christmas). An oldie but goodie is Moonstruck. I echo Joel's recommendation of Little Miss Sunshine.
If you want a good cry unrelated to anything in your life, this time, or this world, check out Dark Victory with Bette Davis.
Hope you are healing well and won't be down for much longer.

Posted 02-04-07 04:40 PM  Bonzai Bonanza! What a tee-riffic list of movies! The best part is that I have only seen 3 of them. Moonstruck, Dark Victory, and Harvey. I am just bananas about Jimmy Stewart. You all have great taste in movies, thank you! And that picture of Lilly made me laugh so hard I almost {edited by Mrs. Tiffany}
You know, it's really weird the things a person starts to miss, like washing dishes. I know that as soon as I can plunge both hands into hot, sudsy water again the novelty will quickly subside, but for now, my everloving firefighter would be most happy to trade places with me.
Sharon, I am so happy that you found us, you have blended into the monkey mix so nicely, and I am so pleased to know you.
You are all such good friends, and I love each of you very much.

Don't worry, because they are not real sock monkeys. She just found some fabric that looks like our skin and made that dress, so no sock monkeys were hurt.

Posted 02-11-07 01:10 PM Hello everyone...looks like I need to start getting ready for the monkey fest....
ihave been sewing and I have recently constructed a habitat for the newbies who get born...
http://images.tribe.net/tribe/uploa...7c-b5d604375bd0[/img]
Firstly....Do not be alarmed! The boa consocktor in the habitat does not actually eat sock monkeys, and just in case, someone happens to accidentally slip into his digestive tract, there is a a conveniant escape hatch in the middle of it's belly..the lump you see in the picture is a crane machine squid we fed him...he will not need to eat again for munce.
Secondly, the habitat is not a cage, the monkeys can come and go as they please...it merely protects them from less than honest monkey fans who might want to monkey-nap them
It is a place where they can hang out comfortable and enjoy
the party without getting stuff spilled on them or dropped on the floor...
Thirdly, the monkeys and the snake are friends...it was their idea to put up the snake feeding sign for shock value.
my latest creature (besides the snake)is the girl on the right...
None of the ones in the habitat have names yet and the guy in the chair is just about to become a keeper.

Posted 02-11-07 01:31 PM What a creative idea! I'm sure that many people will stop by to see your display. I will be sure to look for it when I'm there with my hubby. We missed last year, so I've very excited to go this year.
Going to Rockford is purely a pleasure trip for me! I play with my monkeys for stress relief after a hard day working in hospital-based quality management. I wish I could quit my job and have a home-based monkey business. LOL!

Posted 02-11-07 01:45 PM I don't really have much of a business anymore in the way of doing custom stuff..
I mostly just make them for myself and only sell them if I feel like selling them.
If i go to the monkey fest I will have a few for adoption, I suppose, but mostly i will focus on displaying them and/or letting them hang out with their friends...
I might have some screenprint paintings and t-shirts...like last year.

and repeat..Poxy is not contagious..
Anywhoo...found a sock monkey at the thrift store today..he is more-or less a blank..made out of fox river socks...no eyes..no facial details of any kind...just a red ribbon around his neck.
I think he needs work...so i am gonna spruce him up a bit and put him in the monkey habitat.
