ROCK, SOCK AND ROLL! The dates are out for the Fest this year! March 8th and 9th. I know it's a little early for some of you but I thought I'd better start planning soon since I live in Oregon. http://www.midwayvillage.com/

Happy winter Ralphy!

We're booked, but we're not going to know for sure if we can go until the last minute because of the girls mending. She broke some important thread in her leg. Dang, those humans are so much more fragile than sock monkeys. Last time one of us got stitched up we were ready to go out the same day.

But I'll make myself a new outfit, just in case.

oh, I hope you will be there, Coco! The Bull City Monks are all planning to come. Of course, it is a long way away from today.

Right now we are all excited because Lorna Dune and Socka are gonna have a Party on the Bed all day long on Christmas! I can't wait! lots of chocky and bouncing, sing-a-longs, and stories. did i say chocky? and more chocky? and nanners, too, of course.

Oh no, Miss Coco! That makes us very sad. I wish we could mend her up! We don't want her to be all hurty and stuff. If we monks and our girl can do anything to make it easier for you to come, please let us know. We're locals!

Hey, S'monks. I'm sorely bumming to hear that the Girl got broken so badly! She's cool. Hope winter hasn't been too slippery... that can't be good with your ambulation impaired, although I'm sure you guys are doing the best you can to look after her. Anyway, we're thinking of her and rooting for her to have much better days, and soon.

Hey, Coco. Are you planning a spring line even with the showing dates up in the air? I hope so. Your stuff is really good. And I feel your pain on the travel uncertainty. I'm power-hoping that we get to come to Rockford this spring. I'm worried our travel budget's getting blown on Missus Mel'nee's philosophy trip this week, when the whole plan was SUPPOSED to be celebrating her defense by going to the Fest a week later. (Then I think Tenacity may have to go into the temp pool for awhile or something, but that's her issue.)

If you ask me, she's spending way too much time on this philosophy thing and not nearly enough time on the important things, like keeping the workshop going. I think we're going to have to have a talk soon about her priorities.

Do you suppose?

Howdy all my lovely friends and happy whatever cold weather holiday you celebrate. It's nice to see some old and new faces posting.

Thanks for the good wishes and offers of help. We'll remind the girl when it gets closer and she has to figure out if and how we can go.

Yes, Veronica, I'm planning a spring line. Winter production came to a screeching hault when the girl busted a thread, but she's be relearning to operate a sewing machine with her other foot so she can get back to stitchin'. Evidently you can teach an old human new tricks. Even if we don't make it to Rockford, we can add them to our online store, and I've got some care packages I've been wanting to send out for munce.

After she gets mended she'll be home for a long, long time, so hopefully she'll get some sewing done with the good foot. I've been buying fabric all year and have a mountain of it, so if she doesn't start sewing, we may never seen the entire kitchen table again.

I don't see what the big deal is about breaking her thread. Brad Pitt got shot in the same spot with an arrow in a movie and he was fine in his next film. What a drama queen! But what's weird is I heard that they don't just sew up humans, they staple them shut after a mending. Eeek... can you imagine?? Nobody would want to hug a sock monkey if we had a bunch of staples holding us together.

Stapled, glued, or taped. I don't care, as long as we make it to Rockford. I want to see Googlie, and Sally, and Ralphy, and all my friends from the Red Heel and Sunnyflower Farms.

I was wondering what hotel everyone was staying at too this year! It has been fun in the past years to have a Gingham Scouts meeting and an overall Grand Get Together in the lobby at night. I hope we can do that again this year.

the Bull City monks are staying at the Hampton Inn. I am trying to find a gingham dress, but so far no luck. I have gingham in my soul, but not on my body.

Some of us weren't wearing our Gingham at the meeting, or just had a gingham ribbon pinned to our frocks. The scout leader can get a little stern about it, but she'll still let you in the door.

Dear The Girl,
Did you get mended yet? Did they use the sewing machine or by hand? Did they use thread or embroidery floss? Do you need some stuffing? Polyfill or nylons or capok or something else? Do you have a big scar? Did they give you a lollypop?
I hope you are getting better and can come to Rockford!
Your Friend,
Sally

Hi Sally-

They are still looking at pictures and trying to decide who will do the patching, because I guess different people specialize in different kinds of stitching, so I'm not mended yet. But my understanding is that they use some sort of floss to sew the pieces of thread back together, then staple my knit shut. They did tell me I will have a pretty big scar, kind of like Carmine Peepers has on his ankle. No word on the lollipop yet.

So Rockford is still in limbo for us. Cinnamon will be very sad if she doesn't get to visit with you and go to a Gingham Scout meeting and I'll miss having tea and cookies with all my monkey friends, so we're just going to hope it works out.

Hugs to you and Munka,

The Girl

Hi all! I randomly came across the Sock Monkey Festival back in November while reading a newspaper article. I've been dying ever since, and it seems time is moving slower. I can't wait! I haven't been this excited in a long time!!

Can anyone tell me what this Sockford pageant is? I'm having trouble getting any info about it.

I was wondering about that too because we always only went to the Saturday festivations and have never seen the pageant. This year we might go both days and maybe enter the contest. I was hoping that someone can tell everyone what the pageant consists of so we can be of the readyness for it.

HeeHee I was looking at the two yeers ago contest too. So I figgered out that there is a talent portion and a question and answer time. Is there a bathing suit contest or an evening gown competition? Is there time to change outfits between events if someone wanted to do that? What about hair and makeup? Are there any rules about the talenting part? Are the questions very hard? I am getting very icksited about maybe trying out this year!

I didn't know there was so much angst over the pageant. Does that mean there is a cash prize?

Except for the year Baby Jane won it, and then they just feared her. But it got her the same results.

Someone who actually won something in it will probably eventually wander in, but peeps don't post to this board every day, so you might have to wait a bit for the voice of experience.
