Munce Welcome to the Red Heel!
 |
Posted 03-03-08 04:20 AM Welcome to Munce's Art Gallery. I, Munce, like all forms of sock monkey generated art and would like to see stuff YOU monkeys draw too because art isn't restricted to the big name artists such as Da Vinci Warhol Rockwell and the like you should put your pictures here too even if you think they aren't very good even if they are just scribbles! I won't stand for any monkey making fun of any other monkey's artwork I MEAN IT. I don't care if you paint with your tail or with your pompoms, by the way.
Here are some formal portraits I painted:

That above isn't anyone in particular, just a sock monkey I painted.

Pic above: Minnie May is thinking about joining the Red Heel message board, too. All the writing which is white writing my People added to the picture after I was done with it and I don't know WHY SHE DOES THAT because it's all writingy like writing ALL OVER IT. HARRUMPH.

That up above: I was drunk on banana wine and don't remember who posed for me.

Posted 03-05-08 07:00 PM Time to post more monkeys I drew. My People WILL NOT STOP WRITING ON MY ART. I wish she would!!

and then I'm gonna repost my drawings of ME just so you can admire my incredibly handsome face (so I'm a little lopsided, it just adds to my attractiveness.)

Posted 03-05-08 07:44 PM Greetings Munce. Your work is a fascinating appropriation of the "primitive folk art" technique. The combination of text and image reminds me of the work of Kevin and Julie YeeHAW, two Redheel residents who draw pictures of ponies on cardboard and then "tell tales" on them...
I myself have been hard at work on a few new techniques which I shall share shortly ---- I am looking forward to the Rockford Convention, not because I would attend such a silly shenanigan but because the mass exodous of monkeys from the Red Heel actually allows me to enjoy a little solitude and get some work done.
I shall also try to get Kevin and Julie to post some of their Pictures of Ponies.

Posted 03-05-08 08:17 PM Hey, Munce!
Really nice gallery, dude. Pretty much the whole Sunnyflower Farm has checked it out. Right on!
And Jacobean! It's good to see you again, cuz. I know you dig your solitary art thing, but it'd still be alright if we could get to Rockford sometime, don'tcha think? I mean, it's in a *museum* already! Think about the possibilities.
Later on,
DD

Posted 03-07-08 04:46 PM Munce has been busy in his art studio again drawing a monkey the People made yesterday. Munce is talking about himself in the third person for no apparent reason. Munce sweet-talked the People into taking a group photo of all the monkeys he has drawn so far because they said that a drawing's fair enough but it's not like a photo and Munce is offended because he thought his drawings were decent likenesses but THEY ALL wanted PHOTOS of their faces shown so a picture was taken so HARRRRUMPH.

Posted 03-09-08 05:45 AM Two more I drew today. My People STILL won't stop writin' on 'em dagnabbit. It's because these were all of 'em, every last one, drawn online for an art blog... (if you wanna see everything in its original place, go to tegakie.com and check out the username Mirenithil, that is my People and I guess she's pretending to be ME because -I- Munce am the one who draws all this!!!!!)

Posted 03-13-08 01:23 AM I drew this monkey once before when she didn't have a name. I guess my People was confused cause she wrote 'he' on my first drawing like writing ALL OVER IT but she's since figured out that Molly here is a GIRL. I guess the new dress helped.

This is Hug Monkey, so named cause his arms are hard like waaaay overstuffed arms and that makes them arch around as if he's hugging something.

Posted 03-15-08 02:18 PM Cool art, but that HOOBAJOOB looks kind of scary. Do you think he would mellow out with some cuppy cakes?

Posted 03-15-08 02:19 PM I think my favorite is the one with the rainbow poms. It's the way Munce brought out the subtle yarn details on his canvas.

Posted 03-17-08 07:08 PM Thank you, Miss Sally.
My People was away today and I took the chance to do something with that INCREDIBLY BORING LAPTOP she uses. Well, the lid is plain flat boring black, or it WAS harrumph.
I got ahold of some sandpaper and went 'crazy go nuts' with it on the lid which was FUN and sanded it all up to scratch it up REAL GOOD to give PAINT something to stick to.
Peanut and the fashion queen tried to make me stop sanding her laptop cause they said I'd get into BIG TROUBLE but I fought 'em off by telling them of a bananana plant I knew nearby and that shucked 'em off.
ANYWAY then I painted up the lid real nice. I painted my favorite sock monkey which is ME of course. I think she'll like it when she comes home and not be mad at me one bit.

I work in a different medium... textiles. My art is all practical and wearable for sock monkeys. I'll post some of my more recent creations soon.

Here's one of my recent designs. She's wearing a sundress with matching bolero jacket, sewn from a reproduction of a 1930s quilt fabric hanging in a quilt museum. She's got a matching fabric flower stitched onto her hand-crocheted beret, and carries a black drawstring handbag.
