Benny Hathaway
Benny Hathaway is the RHMS’s reporter, census taker, and voice of reform. Ever since he arrived at the shelter he has been publishing a newspaper called The Monkey Ape Vine. Unfortunately, he discovered that sock monkeys can't read, and have little or no interest in learning. So Benny’s efforts have, largely, come to naught. He even had to travel from subscriber to subscriber and read the paper aloud to them! Benny is the monkey who pioneered the Monkey Census, coined the term Red Heel Monkey Shelter, and is responsible for any number of the reforms that have made the sockosimian society at the Red Heel possible. Consequently, most other sock monkeys see him as a boring busy body. “But I’m trying to be more spontaneous,” says Benny Hathaway
